This combined procedure allows for a comprehensive examination of both the upper gastrointestinal tract (including the esophagus, stomach, and proximal duodenum) and the lower gastrointestinal tract (colon and terminal ileum). It is used to detect obstructions, polyps, ulcers, masses, or sources of bleeding.
To ensure patient comfort, intravenous sedation is administered during the procedure, making it pain-free. A brief recovery period is required afterward to monitor the patient’s condition following anesthesia. Please note that patients are advised not to drive for at least 24 hours after the procedure, operate heavy machinery, or engage in strenuous or highly focused activities for the rest of the day.
